Macao Design Week 2021是由澳門設計師協會主辦的第七屆設計作品聯展，这一项目的主視覺設計靈感來源於澳門的「夜」與「光」。設計團隊特別創作了26個英文字母以不同型態、結構、顏色在黑夜中發散光芒，而不被具象地定義。他們嘗試以超現實的手法重構主視覺的平面設計，打破其常規的視覺設計來表達澳門設計，藉以傳達設計從生活而來亦融於生活，同時展現澳門設計未來潛在著無窮的爆發力。

Macao Design Week 2021 is the 7th joint exhibition of design works held by the China Macau Designers Association. The design inspiration of the key visual design of Macao Design Week 2021 is originated from the “night” and “light” of Macao. 26 English letters are specially created to radiate with different forms, structures and colors at night. They are not specifically defined. Each of them should have its own unique and dazzling light. The graphic design of the key visual design is restructured with the surreal technique to break through the conventionally visual expression of Macao, so as to convey a message that the art comes from life and integrates into life and shows the infinite explosive force of Macao design in the future.

文化品牌設計的重點在於通過視覺設計將某一領域的文化推廣給更廣泛的大眾。因此，作為受眾與文化品牌的仲介，設計師對於該領域文化的理解和轉譯則會成為設計表現的重要影響因素。這件作品的設計師從澳門本地人的視角出發，基於他對澳門的理解，找到了一種能貼切描繪澳門文化與形象的設計語言。同時，這種設計語言又具有國際性，這在契合澳門當地文化和該活動的特點外，更與吸引外來觀眾達到了適當的平衡。

The focus of cultural branding is to promote the culture of a certain field to the wider public through visual design. Therefore, as an intermediary between audiences and cultural brands, designers’ understanding and interpretation of the culture will become an important factor in design. The designer of this work set out from the perspective of local people in Macao, based on his understanding of Macao, he found a design language that can appropriately describe the culture and identity of Macao, which is internationally acceptable at the same time. This strikes an appropriate balance between matching the local culture of Macao, the characteristics of the event, and attracting audiences.

澳門設計周2021除了展出本地的品牌設計作品以外，還帶領觀眾從多個角度解讀澳門設計的文化與故事。從在地性出發，這件作品的設計靈感源於澳門的「夜」與「光」——在以旅遊博彩業為重要經濟來源的澳門，霓虹燈在黑夜中不斷變幻出五光十色的光芒。設計師把這樣的光芒比作近年澳門本土設計所展現的各種各樣的光輝與能量，也象徵著每個人擁有自己獨特且耀眼的光。

In addition to displaying design works of local brands, Macao Design Week 2021 also led the audience to interpret the culture and story of Macao design from multiple perspectives. From the perspective of localization, the design inspiration of this work is derived from the “night” and “light” of Macao — the colorful neon lights that constantly change in the dark in Macao, as tourism and gambling industry are the main economic drives. The designer compares the light to the various brilliance and energy displayed by Macao’s local design in recent years, and also symbolizes that everyone has his/her own unique and dazzling light.

設計師用超現實的手法將黑暗與霓虹色系的光相結合，重構了本屆澳門設計周的主視覺和26個形態結構各異的英文字母。它展現了與過去人們印象中不一樣的澳門設計，但同時又十分契合澳門的社會與文化背景，向觀眾傳達了一種澳門獨特的文化混合、迷亂又時尚的視覺氛圍。

In a surreal way, the designer combined darkness with neon light to reconstruct the key visual and 26 English letters with different shapes and structures of Macao Design Week. What it shows is the design of Macao, which is different from people’s impression in the past, but at the same time is very suitable for the social and cultural background of Macao, and conveys to the audience a unique visual atmosphere of mixed culture, confusion and fashion in Macao.

除了在文化理解與傳達上的貼合，這件作品呈現出一個非常豐富的視覺體系。設計師在大色塊、熒光色系的圖形文字、字體排印等不同視覺元素的混合中做到了統一的把握和平衡。其中，設計師在字體設計上的能力尤為出色。他不僅在中英雙語之間做到恰當而不違和，而且文字與三維風格之間有著協調的搭配與融合：文字既是傳達信息的要素，也承擔了充當圖形要素的重要角色。同時，在顏色的把控上，CMYK和RGB的色系不是主從關係，而是平行的；而豐富的顏色使用，亦十分契合設計周的活動性質。這些都體現了設計師在多種元素的混合上強大的控制力。

In addition to the fit in cultural understanding and communication, this work presents a very enriched visual system. The designer has achieved a unified grasp and balance in the mixing of different visual elements, such as large color blocks, fluorescent color graphics and text, typography, etc. Among them, the designer’s ability in font design is particularly outstanding. He not only achieves the proper and non-conflict relationship between the Chinese and English, but also has a coordinated collocation and integration between the text and the three-dimensional style, so that the text not only serves as an element of information transmission, but also plays an important role as a graphic element. At the same time, the color systems of CMYK and RGB are in parallel instead of subordination; the diverse use of colors is also very consistent with the nature of the design week. All these show that designers have a strong control over the fusion of various elements.
